A group of ten sentenced of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of disseminating untruths regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the couple's significant age difference.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has still to be made public.
A circulating conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's biological sex.
Their lawsuit alleges that Owens disregarded any factual proof contradicting her allegations opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her podcast and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
