In a surprising crossover event that challenges usual forecasts, the game developer has revealed an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Uncovered

According to the formal announcement, "A strange encounter draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where whispers of forbidden rituals and terrifying transformations reverberate through the obscurity." The storyline presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her companion from a secret sect.

The questline focuses on "strange experiments and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Metamorphoses

The teaser highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview finishes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Extra Content

Players who finish the adventure will obtain an unique katana alongside multiple artifacts hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, including:

Latest Free Story Update

This update also adds the game's newest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
