Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team ran a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at Turn Four soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the high-speed corner approaching the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber in third, over half a second off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
